Is it heresy to question the hadith about Aisha's age at marriage? Can Muslims reject the narration saying she was 9?
Questioning the narration that Aisha was 9 at consummation is NOT heresy — it is a point of history, not theology. Both positions (accepting or questioning) have valid scholarly arguments within mainstream Islam. The narrator Hisham ibn Urwah never met Aisha and some hadith scholars note a mathematical discrepancy.
Theology & CreedDo Muslims need scholars or clergy to connect with Allah? Is depending on scholars like the Catholic Church?
Muslims do not need scholars to connect with Allah, make dua, or develop spirituality — Allah hears directly with no intermediary needed. However, understanding Islamic law and theology does require trained scholarship. These are two completely separate needs. Raw spirituality without formal study is entirely valid.
OtherHow do you distinguish between jinn possession and mental illness? When should you seek ruqyah vs. a doctor?
As a default, 90–99% of cases believed to involve jinn are actually natural mental/psychological issues. Common disorders like schizophrenia and depression have natural causes. Some cases are genuinely jinn-related but this is a minority. Ruqyah on yourself is always safe. Only if you notice strange reactions to Quran recitation should you consult an experienced practitioner.
Financial TransactionsIs it ethical for Muslim charities to pay high overhead costs and influencer fees? What percentage is acceptable?
Some overhead is inevitable and Islamically legitimate — the Quran allocates zakat to amils. 15–20% overhead is acceptable; 50–60% is not. Percentage-based fees for fundraisers are absolutely unethical in Yasir Qadhi's view. His personal condition: always a flat fee from organizers' funds, never from donations raised.
Social IssuesAre Muslim community festivals and suhoor fests permissible in Islam?
Not categorically haram. Declaring a large Muslim public gathering haram simply because some may act improperly is an overreach. Whether attending is advisable depends on your level of piety and intention. For the highly religious, spending Ramadan in worship is better. For those at lower levels of practice, it may actually serve as an iman boost. Actions are judged by intentions.
Family & MarriageIs a non-Muslim couple's marriage considered valid in Islam? Do they need to redo their nikah after converting?
A non-Muslim couple's marriage is valid in Islam if they undertook a formal ceremony recognized by their own culture and the parties are permitted to marry each other. Cohabitation alone is not a marriage. If the couple converts to Islam, they do not need to redo their nikah. All four madhabs agree on this.
